ABOUT US

Junkie Jigs is the result of a lot of conversations over a lot of beers. We’re a Wellington based Kabura company bringing the best Japanese techniques and trends to the New Zealand angler. We think Kabura jigs are really the best thing out there for Snapper fishing, and through a lot of collaboration with our factory in Weihai, China we’ve got a range of Kabura jigs that we think are pretty awesome.

We also super interested in customising our jigs to the conditions, we’re those fishing nerds who are constantly tinkering and tailoring their jig to suit the light or the water conditions. We’re also the kind of person who has a secret, killer colour combo that we swear is the secret to our success. We want to bring that ability to customise to you, so we developed our range to help you do that. We really like it, and we hope you do too.

Kabura Head

You talked, we listened; we hit the drawing board and we settled on a range of four different Kabura heads that we are really excited by. Whether it’s the classic and reliable shape of the Drifter or the absolute bad-ass crackle effect on the Kraken we think each style (and colour) can find itself being a main stay in your tackle box. And we heard you all loud and clear when you said that orange was the go-to colour for Kaburas…we even had one punter at the Boat Show tell us to just go with 5 shades of orange – so we did one better; across our entire range we have orange in 6 of the 11 different colours.

We’ve also got you covered for weights too! We know Kabura fishing is big across New Zealand so we’ve brought all the weights you need for wherever you go (keep your eyes peeled in the future for the even bigger boys to help you drop deep).

Hula Skirts

We talk a lot about customisation and about being able to change up your jig to suit the conditions, that’s why we developed these Hula skirts that provide an add on to our jig set up. We could wax lyrical about how different colours work for different water and light conditions, about how certain colours work better in colder months and other colours work better in warmer months…but we won’t (but we may create a blog post or two…). So maybe the light and water conditions are variable and you want to play around with the colours in your jig, or maybe your only bright coloured jig got coutta’d and you have to MacGyver up a solution with your darker jigs.

Our Hula skirts not only give you the ability to customise your jig, to tone down or brighten up the colours; they create movement in a way that your standard skirt won’t (even if you double up those suckers!).
